Each graduate may bring 1 or 2 parents/guardians on the field with them to sit with them on the field.
  • Graduate pods must arrive at the Indoor Building between 7:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • All graduate pods will be separated 6-10 feet apart on the football field.
  • Parents/guardians will go on stage with their graduate and will be given the privilege of handing the diploma to their graduate.
  • A picture will be taken of the graduate with their parents and a picture of the graduate by themselves.
  • There will be no hand-shaking on the stage.
  • All graduate pods are encouraged to wear masks or face coverings.
  • Graduates will receive 1 VIP parking pass to park by the indoor facility, and parents/guardians are encourage to ride with their graduate into the VIP parking area.
  • CHS will provide graduates with a dress code. If any student has difficulty finding dress clothes for the event, please contact CHS Counselor, Shannon Royce.
  • The graduate pod is encouraged to leave all personal belongings in their car or place them in a small plastic bag that is similar to plastic bags required to enter stadiums or amusement parks.
  • Immediately after graduation, graduate pods will be escorted back to the indoor facility to retrieve their diploma and exit CHS facility.

Graduate Guest Party
Each graduate will be allowed to have 5 guests sit in the bleachers together on the home or visitor side.
  • Gates to the stadium will open at 7:00
  • Due to the COVID-19 protocols established by the Governor and Commission of Education that limit the number of people allowed in the stadium, each graduate’s ‘guest party’ is required to arrive together.
  • The Graduate Guest Party must enter the stadium together as a group. If a member of your Graduate Guest Party is running behind, the party must wait for the late guest if they want the late guest to enter the stadium. Once the guest party has entered the stadium, late members of the guest party will not be allowed entry to the stadium.
  • Once the guest party is together, they will present their tickets which is also a required COVID survey at the front ticket booth or visitor ticket booth.
  • The graduate guest party must sit together in the stands and be at least 6 ft from other guest parties.
  • The home and visitor bleachers will be open and have staffing and signage to promote social distancing protocols.
  • Upon entry, each graduate guest party will be handed a small bottle of hand sanitizer as the state has mandated that hand sanitizer or handwashing stations be available upon entry.
  • All guests are encouraged to wear masks or face coverings.
  • Immediately after graduation, guest parties will be dismissed in an orderly fashion in order to exit the stadium to their cars following social distancing guidelines.

Celebrate a 2020 Senior

On April 17, Governor Abbott declared the 2020 school year over, and while this is difficult for many, it is really difficult for our seniors.  Seniors have missed so many 'last time traditions' since spring break, and they will continue to miss more traditions as we move to the end of the school year.

We will have a graduation, and we will have some other special traditions for this great senior class, but with COVID 19 we have no idea when they will be and no control over how they will be carried out.

So I propose that we have control over how we celebrate our seniors.  There are 182 seniors that deserve a huge party for their accomplishments, but since we can't have a party, let's shower them with our love, our congratulations, and our best wishes with a new tradition called Celebrate a Senior.

To be a part of this tradition, all you do is fill out the form and you will be assigned a senior.  You can celebrate them in the following ways:

  • write them a card,
  • buy them a gift or gift card from a local business,
  • or make them a special gift.
The point behind this initiative is simple.  Our seniors deserve to know they haven't been forgotten.  Let's show every one of them that they matter and that we will wish them a bright and prosperous future.

Fill out the Form to Celebrate a Senior

April 2 COVID Letter to Parents

April 2, 2020
Check out our At Home Learning website for parents and students.

Apart Together Hero

APART WE STAND TOGETHER

Dear Parents of Carthage ISD,

Though we are apart right now for our health and safety, we at Carthage ISD continue to support each other as a community, and right now we must work together to fight COVID-19.  In order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Carthage ISD will be reaching out to you via email, phone, text message, and social media over the next two weeks to share vitally important guidance.

This guidance is based on what scientists know about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and it is our hope that you will continue doing all you can to follow these practices and share them with your friends and family.

Thank you for what you are doing to educate your children at home and all the efforts you’re making to keep your family healthy and safe. We know this is a difficult time. If we stand apart as a community during this stretch and continue following the public health practices we will be sharing over the coming days, we will be back together soon.

Stay well!

COVID School Closure Food Service Needs & Technology Survey

Parent Feedback Requested
In light of the school closure, CISD personnel are working diligently to support families with both food service needs and instructional supports during the school closure.  In addition to seeking feedback on food needs, we are asking all parents to give us feedback on the technology that they have in their home for future instruction.

More information on instruction will be shared in following posts.

CISD is closed from March 23 - 27.  The decision on subsequent closures will be made on Thursday of each week.

Food Service Information
Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, Carthage ISD will be offering Grab and Go meals at no cost to any student or community child 18 and under and to students with disabilities without regard to age through two different programs.
Breakfast/Lunch “grab and go” meals will be available from 9am – 11 am at the following locations
  • Libby Elementary Cafeteria (drive through bus ramp)
Additionally, we will deliver meals using school buses from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. We will be operating all normal routes throughout the district.  Students may wait at the regular bus stop, and the bus will deliver both breakfast and lunch at the same time.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY
to help us determine how much food to provide and
to help us determine the technology supports at your home.

#BeTheLIGHT
In this time of uncertainty, it is human to be anxious.  We WILL get through this.  Let's remember to be patient and kind with one another.  If you have questions about your child's learning, please wait until next week (after March 23) to ask questions.  We will send information about learning to you next week.

If you have questions about food service needs, please email your child's principal or call the school.

Special Note - Campuses will not be taking phone calls until Monday, March 23.

Week of March 23

Celebrate Excellence
Congratulations to our Drama Dawgs!
Their One Act Play “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” is advancing
to Bi-District and Rhett Goldman was awarded Best Actor!
The 4th quarter of the school year is about to begin.  The 4th quarter is where champions thrive, while the rest struggle to survive.  As you begin the week with your children, help them set a goal that you want them to accomplish by the end of the year.  It may be a learning goal.  It may be about improvement in discipline or raising a grade in math or reading.

Setting goals is often hard for kids, but with your support, kids learn the value of making goals and they learn even more when they make and execute a plan to reach their goals.  The 4th quarter is where champions are made.  Let's push every child to meet and exceed their potential.  After all, every child is a champion!

Week of March 9

Celebrate Excellence - End of the 3rd Quarter
Carthage JH 8th graders toured Panola College to learn
about college opportunities
With spring break coming up next week, that marks the end of the 3rd quarter of the 2019-2020 school year.  There is a strong tradition that has been established by our Carthage Bulldog football team.  The Bulldogs excel in the 3rd quarter and win the big game in the 4th quarter.

Our teachers, leaders, support professionals, and students have done an amazing job excelling in their work during January, February, and March, and now they have generated the momentum to head into the 4th quarter ready to emerge as champions in the classroom.

I encourage everyone to have a fantastic last
week of school as we end the 3rd quarter.  Enjoy your time off and time to rest during spring break next week, and come back on March 23 back ready to work hard in order to reach our goal of becoming the premier district in the state of Texas.  Our teachers are making a profound difference in the lives of children, and our students are poised to see tremendous growth in the last quarter of the school year.

Have a great Spring Break

Great Job to our FFA students at the Panola County Livestock Show
Our FFA students are pictured with Neal McCoy before heading to the
Area VI FFA Convention a few weeks ago.  This week, several of our students
showed their projects at the Panola County Livestock show.  We appreciate
the hard work of our students, their parents and our teachers (Mark Davis,
Bob Morris, and Jolene Davis) to make this a special week.

Week of March 2

Celebrate Excellence - Texas Public Schools Week
Campus and district representatives met this week
to make plans for our new website that will be
released in June 2020.
Across Texas, schools are celebrating Texas Public Schools Week.  Texas public schools serve 5.4 million students and that number increases every year.  Did you know that Texas public schools serve 10% of the nation's students?  That is an amazing statistic.  The future of any community can be found in its schools, and in Carthage ISD we know how important it is that our schools prepare the future generation.

During Texas Public Schools Week, there were be events that you can be part of to celebrate the work that Carthage ISD leaders, teachers, and support professionals do every day to guarantee that every student graduates fully prepared to be a successful employee, parents, and citizen.  We invite you to join us in celebrating the powerful work in Texas Public Schools and Carthage ISD.

Congratulations to our Ladydog Basketball team for finishing the year at the Bi-District Champions.

The Bulldog Basketball team is the Bi-District Champion and they face China Spring in the 2nd round on Friday at 7:30 in Athens.

Congratulations to Taylor Kenderdine
