Week of May 20 (Last Week of School Edition)

Celebrate Excellence - The Senior Class of 2019
Seniors won many scholarships at last week's assembly
The end of the year is upon us, and I would like to congratulate the senior class of 2019 for their accomplishments.  This class has made a tremendous impact on our district in both academics as well as through co-curricular and extracurricular endeavors.  As the students make their way across the graduation stage, they will enter a new stage of life.  My prayer is that these graduates continue down the path they have started, that they never forget where they came from, and that they also remember and are thankful for the people who made them the successes that they are today.

Congratulations, good luck, and Go Dawgs!

CHS GRADUATION - FRI, MAY 24 at 8 p.m.

Thank you Parents
On behalf of the Carthage ISD board of trustees, teachers, leaders and support staff, I would like to say thank you to our parents for your hard work and partnership this year.  I know that while raising children is one of the most rewarding gifts we can ever have, it can also be one of the most challenging tasks as well.

Throughout this year, your children had great experiences and sometimes they had difficult experiences.  There were days where the partnership between home and school was extremely strong and some days where it may have been difficult.  Please know that your children were always our number one priority each and every day this year, and our teachers and staff members gave their very best to educate your child.  We are thankful that you chose Carthage ISD to educate your child, and we look forward to the great things that we will offer your child in the future, as well as the continued partnership that we will have with you next school year.

Week of May 13

Celebrate Excellence
End of Year Field Trips are going on for all elementary
level students as the year comes to an end.
Thank you to the CISD Education Foundation for your support.
Heading into the last 2 weeks of the year, both our baseball and softball teams have advanced to the area (BB) and quarterfinal (SB) rounds of the playoffs.  We are so proud of Coach McFall and the softball team and Coach Goodwin and the baseball team for their hard work.  Our track athletes are headed to the state meet in Austin this weekend and we also have a golfer headed to the state tournament in a week.  We are so proud of our champions.

As we finish the 2018-2019 school, it is important to use these last 2 weeks to not only finish strong, but also to show our teachers, leaders, and support staff just how much we thank them for their efforts.  In the last 2 weeks, please join me in taking time to tell each staff member in CISD how much we thank them for their service.
Teacher Appreciation Week showered our teachers
with lots of love and appreciation

Week of May 6

Celebrate Excellence - STAAR 5 & 8 Results
Congrats to Miller Harris who is headed to
the UIL State Golf Tournament
The results of the first administration of the STAAR 5th and 8th grade tests came in this week.  We are very proud of our kids for their performance, and we applaud our teachers for their hard work and determination to help every student grow.  The data shown in the table below illustrates how much growth our students made from last year as 4th and 7th graders to this year as 5th and 8th graders.

As you look at the data, it is important to note that we won't know precisely how much growth our students made until we compare our results to the state average.  Furthermore, this data doesn't tell the whole story about Carthage ISD.  This data is merely a snapshot of one test on one day, and we will not evaluate or judge our teachers and students based solely on this one assessment.  We will use the data to determine next steps to fulfill our district goal of exceeding the state average on all assessments.

SPECIAL NOTE - 8th grade data does not include 50 students who are taking

Algebra 1 this year.  Those students were part of the 7th grade scores only.

"Data is information, not condemnation."

May 6 - 10 is Teacher Appreciation Week.
Please take time to join us in thanking our teachers, leaders and staff for all that they do for kids.
